Thunderstorms on and off all day and now into the night. I LOVE IT! I've been just coasting all day - listening to the rain and thunder, cheering (praying) for the Packers (errrr!), reading scripts and textbooks, and then watching the long anticipated return of Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. Exciting eh? I'm sure you all are envious! heehee Yep, you guessed it - the cable guy was here this week!
The experience of "coasting" was definitely enhanced by the couch that now resides in my small living room. Thanks Nancy and Judy! They were up for the challenge of transporting that beast to Whitewater. They arrived Wednesday afternoon and I, of course, showed them the nightlife in a college town. I live only a half mile from the town center where the bars are. The walk downtown wasn't too bad, but the trek home went by so much quicker. LOL

Well, It's Saturday Night.....
Just got home from an exciting night at the bowling alley (eyes rolling back in head). I can't believe I haven't posted since Monday. Not doing too good on the daily updates... but I will definitely try to post at least once a week... HAHAHA
I had an "interesting" Intro to Theatre class on Friday. After that class, I firmly believe there are people that need to just learn how to SHUT UP! Perhaps, that should be a freshman class... This guy in class just didn't get the difference between theatre and movies/film. He kept arguing with the professor ... I thought I was going to witness Prof T. actually throttle a student. heh heh Finally Prof T. just said, "Enough, I have to move on" and he actually put his hand out to him, like "talk to the hand." I almost burst into laughter.
Today I spent a some hours in Fort Atkinson distributing posters and brochures for the Fall Theatre and Dance season. Blak! It reminds of selling Girl Scout cookies door to door - I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now. But I'm doing it - it's part of the Management/Publicity practicum. Tomorrow I'm heading over to Delavan. At least I'm getting more familiar with the area. I found a cool antique store - I Love Funky's. It's has some really neat stuff in it AND what looks to be, an awesome martini bar on the river bank.... I decided against taste testing this time around.
My time on Thursday in the costume shop was spent sewing a critter hood. It is for the children's play, Peter Rabbit. I believe it was the hood of a rabbit costume - no ears on it yet. During this two hour session, I sat at a sewing machine next to the guy from the previous paragraph - (Mr. I-Don't-Know-When-To-Shut-Up Guy). The conversation I attempted to hold with him should have foreshadowed Fridaty's events. LOL I'm curious now what will happen in class on Monday! :^D
Time to do some more research for a paper .... it's due Monday. Pretty good, eh? I started today - Saturday - two days before it's due! YEAH ME! I'm having a difficult time settling on a topic though ... I keep telling myself "Just pick one dammit!" Oh, well... sometimes it just not that easy. Perhaps it will come to me in my sleep... it happens that way sometimes.

Errrrr ..... Computers!
I really feel sorry for the layperson who is unfamiliar with the temperment of those BEASTS called computers. I just spent a couple of hours screwing around with my printer trying to get it to print something I need for class tomorrow morning! I changed the print cartridge (it was almost out of color ink) - brand new, right out of the package, cleaned and cleaned and cleaned the printhead, uninstalled and installed the print drivers, and as a last resort, I tried a different ink cartridge.... SUCCESS!! Now, the question I face is whether to attempt to return this faulty print cartridge.... yeah, right! As of this moment, I believe my sanity is worth just counting the $20 as a loss.
Today I put in 2.25 hours towards my 40 hours of "free labor" in the theatre. This part of the 40 hours (16 hours) is in the costume shop. The first assignment was to create a "Barbie apron" which was designed to test our sewing abilities. I, fortunately, can sew (if I have to) and whipped that baby out in a half hour (that includes ripping out a seam because I didn't like how the gather looked - LOL) - that left me with a lot of time to explore the features/stiches of the sewing machine... Thanks Mom for teaching me how to sew!!
Time for me to curl up with a nice, thick textbook and read about theatre operations and mangement ... five chapters to read by Wednesay... Wish me luck!

Today is National Literacy Day ....
I guess I should take that and the disconnection of my free cable as a sign that I should crack a book tonight, eh?
I got a lot of putzy stuff done today. I took care of a lot of address change stuff, made a cable installation appointment (heh heh), and had a 1.5 hour training session at the bowling alley. It didn't seem very busy there, but I hear that Wednesday night it's crazy. Time will tell I guess. So much for not working weekends during the month of September. Next week, I'm scheduled to work eight hours -- 7p to 11p on Thursday and on Saturday. No Harley weekend for me I guess.
I had a very stressful stage makeup class today. I just had to show up to have my picture taken! LOL From that picture, we need to create a worksheet to plan the makeup assignments (I guess). That class has me a little perplexed... I'm sure it will be fun, but a lot of "beginning" and "planning" stuff needs to happen before we actually get to makeup application.
Oh yeh, for those of you that see Tom & Tina, wish them a Happy Anniversary. Yesterday was 20 years for them!

Two days under my belt
So, I've now attended each of my classes once. My thoughts are that some will be more work than others... and I'll be reading a LOT of scripts!! :^D I am the oldest in every one of my classes, except for the professors/teachers (and there are a couple I question - LOL). At least two classes require group projects/presentations - UGH! In case any of you have missed my rantings about group "things" in the past -- I can't stand them! Typically, at least half of the participants don't pull their weight. I guess I can be hopeful that it is different here. (sigh)
Tomorrow is my first day working at the bowling alley. I'll keep you posted on how that goes.
As far as settling in the apartment, I have 5-6 boxes of "miscelleaneous" stuff that needs to be gone through, closets to organize, and the entertainment center needs to be set up. All in all not too bad. I haven't figured out the couch situation yet, but I am getting pretty comfy on the chaise lawn chair. :^D The couch is still in Rhinelander and I don't know if it is worth getting down here due to the price of gas to haul that baby. LOL It may end up being a Goodwill donation. It's definitely not a big worry for me - just more floor space for guests!
Time to get reading some of the textbooks. I want to at least start the semester on track! Who knows maybe this anti-procrastination philosophy is starting to stick...

Hello Whitewater!!
Well, I'm finally down in Whitewater permanently. The cats made the trip very well. They complained a bit, but they are settling nicely now - roaming their new territory. The move over the winter was definitely more traumatic for them. I have half of the car unloaded and the computer set up - bare bones though. No speakers, printer, or scanner. I will work some more tomorow. The rest of the night I will spend surfing the channels before the free cable is gone.
